Thanksgiving

Oh Thanksgiving. You are my favorite holiday EVER. None of that "i hope they like the gift I got them" pressure and guilt free eating. Preston has been counting down the days till Jimmy and Andrew got home for Thanksgiving break. He would tell me about 10 times a day "it almost time jimmy andrew come home". I don't know what he's going to do when they leave tomorrow :(

Thanksgiving day itself was beautiful out. We decided that we would sit outside to eat since it's lovely out there and everyone could fit on the porch.
Our menu this year included:
Turkey (which we were out of by Friday afternoon! No more turkey sandwiches! I could cry)
Mashed potatoes/gravy
Stuffing
Potato Casserole (family fav)
Rolls
Macaroni Salad
Deviled Eggs
Green Bean Casserole (with fresh green beans, not canned. YUM.)
Pistachio Salad
I think thats it!! It was all so very very good.

After our meal we had a fun game of touch football. I'm still not sure which team won, but Andrew sure it was his team. I'm not so sure about that.
Then on Black Friday we did some things together as a family like cleaning out our family storage unit & then going to visit some family that was in town.
We love having Jimmy and Andrew home. Hopefully they will be home again soon.

Jaxton's official 1 year post

Ok I promise I won't make this too long since most people skip over these kinds of posts, but I need to record some of this stuff for me, and for Jaxton's records!

Weight: 20.2 lbs - 15%
Length: 30''- 55% (The doctor and I both think he was measured incorrectly because the kid is LONG. Like really long.
Head: 46.75 cm- 60%

At ONE YEAR Jaxton:

Is a phenomenal eater. Everyone who hears that is doubtful since he is so thin, but he is! He eats everything except cheese. I know. ODD. He does like Mac & cheese, but not grilled cheese, string cheese, and cheese on noodles and such. And lately he has been not liking peanut butter. Seriously kid?!? I don't know what his favorite food would be since he will try and eat anything. And when I say he eats a ton, this is what a typical day looks like: Breakfast- rice cereal mixed with a container of yogurt, then something like a waffle, toast, an egg, or nutrigrain bar, sippy cup full of milk. Lunch- a sandwich of some sort, pudding or applesauce, fruit of some kind, sippy cup full of milk. Dinner- Whatever we are eating he will eat. Potatoes, fajitas, pork, spaghetti, whatever it is, he eats it. And then of course a sippy of milk. Plus add in snacks of animal crackers, graham crackers, saltine crackers throughout the day. My boys will eat me out of the house when they are teenagers.

Does not walk. He does finally crawl with his belly off the ground, thank goodness since he was ruining all his clothes dragging his belly across the floor all day. He has also lately been crawling on his feet and hands like a monkey would.

He doesn't talk much. Or at all really. He's said Da da a few times, and will if prompted, but thats it. He can however make great monkey noises!

Sleeps from 7:30-7. I love him for this.

Still uses a pacifier and I have no plans to take it away just yet. Maybe someday when I get brave. He is off formula completely and off bottles too. He's growing up!

He has 8 teeth in right now. 6 all the way in, and 2 more that have broken the surface and are halfway down.

I've decided he has the disposition of a first born or only child. Sad for him that he is 2nd. He has not been the sweetest boy to be around since turning one. He is whiny  fussy, crying, wants to be held all the time and get all the attention. I try to blame it on teething, shots, being tired, hungry, but I think that it's just his personality right now. PLEASE let it change. I think once he can communicate with us it will help things.

Is obsessed with Preston. He adores him and tries so hard to keep up with him.

I'm really excited to see what this year brings fro Jaxton. He'll be walking and talking before we know it and it makes me laugh to think of him Preston's age being bossy & sassy.

Jaxton's Birthday!!!!

Jaxton is one!!!!
How is it possible that he's already been here a year?? And it seems like he grew up into a little boy overnight. He has his one year checkup on Wed, and I'll post more about him at 1 then, but this post is for his birthday & party!

We started out his day with a picture. Luckily we still had some balloons from Preston's Halloween costume that made a good prop for him.

After our 1st breakfast we went to Krispe Kreme for a birthday donut. Or 12.

After naps we went to the Arizona State Fair! I'm pretty sure that Preston thinks Jaxton's birthday is like the best day ever since he got to do all this fun stuff too.

Once again I was the nervous one at letting him go on by himself. But he was fine! He loved it!

Sadly about 3 seconds after he got off that ride he tripped and scrapped his knee up pretty good. There were lots of tears but they stopped once Daddy showed him a video of him going on the ride all by himself.

Jaxton loved all the lights and people watching.

This airplane ride Preston went on twice because he loved it so much. You had to push down on the steering wheel to go up in the air and he got the hang of it quick.

I love his face in this picture! He's just SO EXCITED!

He kept standing up and turning around (talk about give me a heart attack) to talk to the kid behind him. He was probably just telling him to keep his seat and tray table in the upright and locked position until landing.

And of course there was some fair food. YUM!!!!

They had a display of giant bugs that Preston liked, but was a little unsure about. Not that I blame him. Seeing an enormous bee's head wasn't a pretty sight.

Then later that night they had monster trucks that were doing a show- see, Preston's best day ever!- and while Patrick and Preston were at the show Jaxton and I walked around looking at all the pretty things.

Sunday we had his actual birthday party with family over.
Preston was all kinds of excited for this too.

We had chili and cornbread , an excellent fall meal, and cupcakes with oreo cream cheese frosting. So good. I made Patrick take the rest of them to work today because I just do not have the will power to resist things with oreos and cream cheese in them.

See what I mean about how he looks like a little boy!?!?!

Presents time!!!

Preston was a little confused as to why it wasn't his turn to open a present, and I'm sure he will enjoy playing with Jaxton's new toys. In fact he slept with Jaxton's new giant monkey last night. He knows however that they are Jaxton's things and he asks Jaxton before he plays with them.

Cup cake time!!!

He was a happy messy baby.

I'm so grateful for Jaxton. When him and I had our time together at the fair I just had a heart so full of gratitude thinking of him and for the rest of my family. He's such a sweet boy. He is definitely a key part of our family  and we love him so much.
